Temple University Athletics and Team IMPACT Announce Partnership

2.17.23 | General

PHILADELPHIA – Today, Temple University Athletics announced a new partnership with Team IMPACT, a national organization whose unique multiyear program matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country.

Temple has worked with Team IMPACT since 2015, matching 11 children across athletics over the last eight years; the University currently has two active teams with Team IMPACT matches – co-ed dance and women's volleyball, as well as three Team IMPACT student-athlete fellows. Matched children officially sign and participate in many activities with their team over a two-year period, including games, practices, and other team events.

This new agreement builds on the relationship, providing enhanced opportunities for student-athletes including the Team IMPACT Fellowship program, and curriculum-based training on topics such as diversity and inclusion, advocacy, and professional development. In addition, Temple University will host multiple promotions throughout the year which consist of spotlighting Team IMPACT at select games and telling the story of the long-term relationship between the two organizations.

"Our partnership with Team IMPACT enables our student-athletes and teams to be strong corporate citizens who are integrated in our local North Philadelphia community," said Arthur Johnson, Temple University Vice President and Director of Athletics. "Through Team IMPACT, we look forward to building stronger relationships with local health organizations in our neighborhood, especially Shriners Children's Philadelphia, located on our campus. Together, we can come together to improve the lives of children in our community every day."

"Temple University has been a steadfast supporter of our program and has set itself apart with its commitment to empowering children and their families from North Philadelphia through the power of a team," said Josh Walker, Regional Executive Director at Team IMPACT. "We're thrilled to enhance our relationship and elevate Temple to one of our campus partners and look forward to matching more teams and children together."
