Women's Basketball Welcomes Josephine Senek of Team IMPACT

HACKENSACK, N.J. - FDU women's basketball officially welcomed Josephine Senek of Team IMPACT to the Knights' 2022-23 roster in a ceremony held Monday evening on the hardwood at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center.

Diagnosed with Tetrasomy 8p Mosaicism (1-of-31 worldwide), complete Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (a rare brain disorder) and Autism, Senek is believed to be the only person with all three disorders. A resident of West Orange, N.J., Senek has been an inspiration to many who follow along with her journey on Facebook, /NormalForJosephine, and on the family's website, normalforjosephine.com.

Connecting with Team IMPACT, the 2022 NEC regular season champions and head coach Angelika Szumilo have been able to welcome Josephine, now 13 years old, to the team, which is coming off the program's first WNIT appearance.

Team IMPACT is the only U.S. nonprofit that tackles the emotional trauma and social isolation experienced by children facing serious and chronic illnesses. Through Team IMPACT, children like Senek are drafted onto college athletic teams for a two-year therapeutic program that complements their medical treatments, allowing the children to develop relationships and skills that help them complete the full circle of healing.
