Friendship Series: Alexa and Dahlia, Franklin & Marshall Soccer

Ten-year-old Alexa has always been outgoing, talkative, and curious. She loves playing sports and being outdoors. But living with spina bifida has sometimes prevented Alexa from being on a team of her own—until she became a member of the Franklin & Marshall soccer team.

When Alexa became a Diplomat in June of 2023, she brought energy and joy to the team and gained a whole roster of sisters. Among those teammates, one player stood out from the start: Dahlia Pepe.

“Dahlia has had a special connection with Alexa from day one,” said Kayla, Alexa’s mom. From the first time they met through every interaction since, Dahlia makes an effort to consistently connect Alexa with the entire team. “Although Alexa loves everyone on the team, her bond and friendship with Dahlia has been something truly special,” Kayla said.

Though Dahlia graduated from Franklin & Marshall this summer, and Alexa graduated from Team IMPACT, their bond remains as strong as ever. “Dahlia is an incredible athlete but an even more incredible human being,” Kayla said. “She genuinely cares and puts the effort to check in, support, and motivate Alexa. We are confident that she will continue the relationship with Alexa for years to come.

From countless conversations and advice, hanging out at games and practices, and good luck videos before big games or doctors’ visits, Alexa and Dahlia support each other through everything life throws their way. “We are so thankful for this amazing opportunity,” Kayla said. “We want to give back and recognize Dahlia because of the IMPACT she has had on Alexa that will last a lifetime.”
