Team IMPACT matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved.
Team IMPACT’s unique multiyear program matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Our mission is to guide children and teams alike in a mutually beneficial relationship of belonging, empowerment, and resilience.
Through this program, our vision is to create a world where every child facing serious illness and disability feels supported by something bigger and every team is transformed by a greater purpose. When we’re all in together, we all win together.
We ensure both the family and team are ready for this experience, considering physical, social, and emotional factors to determine the best match.
Case managers work with families and teams to set goals tailored to each child’s journey and social-emotional development.
Using a range of therapeutic techniques and a personalized game plan, we will work to ensure a win for everyone involved.
Our social workers and child life specialists help kids and their teams build rapport, connections, and trust as they bond over time.
Team IMPACT’s support ends, but your relationships don’t have to! Celebrate the growth achieved as the child takes skills learned from the program into the world.
Team IMPACT serves children with over 250 life-altering medical conditions and disabilities. At this time, we are unable to serve children with autism spectrum disorder or asthma as a primary diagnosis.
Families can apply for children between the ages of 5 and 16 years old.
While there are no strict requirements regarding the specific amount of time spent with your matched child, there is no off-season at Team IMPACT. We recommend that matches connect 2-4 times a month during the school year and at least monthly during the summer months.
The length of time a team is on the waiting list varies. We cannot guarantee a child for each interested team within a specific time frame, but we are consistently working with the pediatric medical community to get more referrals.
