Friendship Series: Morgan & Audrey, Minnesota Hockey

When 13-year-old Morgan joined the University of Minnesota women’s hockey team in July 2023, she quickly found herself surrounded by teammates who treated her like family. Living with cerebral palsy, Morgan has always shown strength; but with the Gophers by her side, she found a community that celebrates her for exactly who she is.

From her Signing Day, which Morgan described as “amazing,” to cheering on her teammates throughout the season, Morgan has embraced every moment. She even traveled to the Frozen Four to support her girls, proving that no distance is too far when it comes to showing up for the team she loves!

One friendship has been especially meaningful: Morgan’s bond with Audrey Wethington. The two share a connection that goes far beyond hockey, rooted in kindness, encouragement, and true friendship.

“Audrey has been so kind and goes out of her way to include Morgan in the team’s activities and celebrations,” said Jessica, Morgan’s mom.She messages and FaceTimes often, takes initiative to schedule fun events to hang out, and has truly been a friend to Morgan. She is a great role model, leader, and exemplary person for our daughter.”

Though Morgan officially graduated from Team IMPACT this spring, she and Audrey know their bond is lifelong. They’re not just teammates—they’re friends, role models, and Gophers for life.
