Team IMPACT Announces Partnership and Celebration Event with Brown University

Boston, MA (January 10, 2024) – Team IMPACT, a nonprofit that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, announced its official partnership with Brown University today. To date, Brown has welcomed 31 Team IMPACT teammates to its college sports teams, and their official partnership is Team IMPACT’s first with an Ivy League university.

From football to rugby, volleyball, swimming, track and field, and more, the Bears are one of the most matched campuses in the country.  These relationships and Brown’s work with Team IMPACT were celebrated on November 18, 2023, at the Dartmouth football game, where active and alumni matches were in attendance to commemorate the student-athletes and staff who have welcomed Team IMPACT teammates and their families over the past 13 years.

“As one of our most matched campuses in the nation, Brown continues to prove why they are considered one of the preeminent Universities both inside and outside of the classroom,” said Ryan Irwin, Team IMPACT’s Northeast Regional Executive Director. “This partnership will open many doors for Brown’s student-athletes and for our matches and families as well, and that will allow us to expand our vision and ultimately provide more lifelong memories and impact for all involved. For an organization driven by forming mutually beneficial relationships of belonging, empowerment, and resilience, a partnership between Team IMPACT and Brown University is a perfect match.”

The partnership will endeavor to promote Team IMPACT’s work on campus, match more teammates with Brown’s college sports teams, and celebrate their existing matches throughout the year.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Team IMPACT, an organization that shares our mission of serving others,” said M. Grace Calhoun ’92, Ph.D., Brown University Chancellor Samuel M. Mencoff ‘78 Vice President for Athletics and Recreation. “We strive to foster personal growth through holistic development, and this terrific opportunity also helps us build meaningful relationships in our Greater Providence community.”
